CARPHA : CARIBBEAN PUBLIC HEALTH AGENCY : advancing public health in the caribbean

 

Governance and Management arrangements

CARPHA is expected to become a legal entity in December 2010.

The governance body will comprise the CARICOM Health Ministers within the Council of Human and Social Development (COHSOD) which reports to the Conference of CARICOM Heads of Government.

An executive board and technical advisory committee will in turn report to COHSOD. A management team, led by an executive director will report to the Executive Board.

Proposed Governance Structure of CARPHA

Under this management team CARPHA will have 7 functional units focusing on:

• Laboratory services

• Surveillance and health analysis

• Information/education and communication

• Research, policy development and evaluation

• Human resources development and training

• Health Emergency preparedness and response

• Strategic planning and resource mobilisation.
