THE CARICOM YOUTH AMBASSADOR PROGRAMME (CYAP) LOGICAL FRAMEWORK 2002 – 2005

GOAL
This programme will contribute to the deepening of the regional integration process by promoting active youth participation in the regional youth movement and the sustainable development of the Community.

 

Increased number of opportunities and spaces for youth views to be channeled to the policy makers at all levels;

Increased levels of networking and functional cooperation among multi-sectoral youth organisations at the national and regional levels.

The regional integration movement will overcome contemporary challenges of poverty, social upheaval and economic instability and become stronger over time.

PURPOSE      
To develop a cadre of dynamic young Caribbean leaders empowering youth, increasing their well-being and promoting the goals of Caribbean unity and regional integration. CYAP implemented

5% increase in the number of countries which nominate CYAs

Sustained commitment of Heads of Government to the CYAP

Approved generic long-short term development plan and national work plans.

Number of instruments of appointment issued by the CHOG.

Secretariat documents including reports of meetings of the CHOG, COHSOD and Meetings of the Regional Committee of Directors of Youth Affairs.

Heads of Government (CHOG) and the Region's planners and decision makers consider the energy, new ideas, creativity, and other assets of young people to be valuable resources for development.

3.   Strengthening the capacity of CYAs to:

a.   facilitate peer education and youth participation with regard to Caribbean unity and regional integration issues, in particular the Single Market and Economy (CSME) and the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ);

b.   advocate for the development of policies and strategies to promote the Community’s priorities;

c.   facilitate the adaptation/ development of peer education and advocacy materials, tools and strategies;

CYA problem solving, project development, needs assessment, advocacy and facilitation skills enhanced

CYA knowledge and awareness of regional integration and development issues increased.

Increased number of young people sensitized to Caribbean unity and regional integration issues by initiatives developed/supported by CYAs

Increased use of sport, theatre, ICT and culture as behaviour change methodologies by members of the CYA network.
