CONDOLENCES ON THE DEATH OF NOOR HASSANALI,
FORMER PRESIDENT, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO
It is with deep regret that the Caribbean
Community notes the death of the former President of
the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Noor
Mr. Hassanali served as President during one of
the most trying times in the recent history of his
country. Throughout it all he carried out his duties
with dignity, commitment and statesmanship which
earned great respect for his Office and himself. His
quiet demeanour, humility and unobtrusive style
endeared him to the citizens of his country, a
country which he also served as prosecutor,
magistrate and Appeal Court judge. His passing is a
tremendous loss to the entire nation.
On behalf of the Caribbean Community, the CARICOM
Secretariat and on my own behalf, I express sincere
condolences to the wife, children and family of Mr.
Hassanali as well as to the government and people of
Trinidad and Tobago.
