CARICOM HEADS OF GOVERNMENT EXPRESS CONCERN OVER PRESIDENT CHAVEZ' ILLNESS
 

  (CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has expressed grave concern over the illness of His Excellency Hugo Chavez, President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and “close friend and committed partner of the Community”.

In a message to President Chavez, the Heads of Government, currently in St. Kitts and Nevis for their Thirty-Second Summit, expressed confidence that his resilience and strength would be of great assistance to him in this trying time.

The text of the message reads:

“It is with grave concern that we, the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) greet reports of the illness of His Excellency Hugo Chavez, President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, a close friend and committed partner of the Community.

We are confident that his resilience and strength will be of great assistance to him in this trying time and we look forward to his full and speedy recovery”.
