an 11.4MW wind farm at Hope Beach, East Coast
Demerara (Region 4).
- A solar electricity project is in progress at
Orinduik (Region 8) to install a 1500W photo-voltaic
system to supply a small guest house with
electricity for lighting, small appliances and a
small water supply system.
- A solar electricity project is in progress
Kabakaburi (Region 2) to install a 1500W

- Two (2) 1500W solar electricity projects were
commissioned in October, 2005 at Paruima and Kato in
Regions 7 and 8 respectively. These projects were
implemented under a project titled “Capacity
Building and Demonstration Projects for Hinterland Unserved Areas Utilizing Renewable Energy Sources”
and were financed from a grant from UNDP.
These projects will be assessed over the short
and medium terms for the socio-economic impact on
the communities, and to demonstrate to other
